MEET DAE!

For Dae, it's all about freedom — physical freedom and inner freedom. The freedom to be strong in all sorts of positions, to squat, to balance upside down, to moving on and off the ground with fluidity. The freedom to feel good in your body. Everything Dae teaches points there.

Dae Gallina has spent more than 15 years coaching strength, body control, and mobility — from first pull-ups and handstand foundations to press handstands, planches, and levers. His specialty is the layer that makes all of that possible: building strength through full ranges of motion, and training the nervous system and fascia so the body actually gives you the positions your skills demand.

The story. Dae grew up playing ice hockey, spent some years trying out triathlons, and then found his way into the circus and flow arts world — which would eventually lead him to handstands, martial arts, and dance. He came to it all with very little upper body strength and had never tried a handstand before learning everything as an adult. What changed his trajectory wasn't raw talent; it was skilled coaching, an understanding of how the nervous system governs range of motion, and a systematic approach to building strength at all ranges. The guy who once couldn't touch his toes now folds in half and balances on his hands — and that transformation is the method he teaches.

The approach. Dae emphasizes building a solid base of strength, mobility, coordination, and conditioning — the foundation that makes advanced skills possible and keeps them sustainable. His toolkit combines a variety of methodologies to accomadate various learning styles and . For bodyweight athletes, this translates directly: deeper squats, cleaner pikes and straddles, shoulders that tolerate volume, hips that open for the skills you're chasing, and joints that stay resilient as training progresses.

The experience. Dae has coached everyone from beginners rediscovering their bodies to advanced athletes chasing high-level skills. He founded the movement program at Seattle Bouldering Project (2017–2022), ran Seattle Movement Project, and served as Lead Teacher at Ape Co Movement School in Boulder, Colorado before returning home to Seattle. He is the founder of Mixed Movement Arts, an online education platform and community focused on mobility, fascial health, and nervous system regulation — where he continues to teach, write, and develop new curriculum.

The philosophy. Dae's teaching centers on kinesiophilia — the love of movement. Progress comes from consistency, curiosity, and intelligent programming, not punishment. His job is to help you build a body that's strong through its full range, a nervous system that works with you instead of against you, and a practice you actually want to show up for — one that keeps expanding your freedom for the rest of your life.

When he's not coaching, you'll find him at parks and movement jams around Seattle, improvising, dancing, playing music, exploring nature, and practicing what he preaches: everyone can make progress, up until the day they die.
