Four Natural Ways to Boost Your Energy Level

Energy Makes Everything Possible

The more energy you have, the easier it is to build muscle, lose weight, and improve performance. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. Low energy makes even small achievements easier to accomplish. Thankfully, some of the best ways to improve your energy level are simple and natural.

#1 Consistent Sleep Habits

Sleep is the biggest influence on your energy level. In some ways, I would even consider it a higher priority on your health than diet and exercise! Poor sleep habits will always compromise your health and fitness regardless of how disciplined your nutrition and training habits are.

Like diet and exercise, you don't need "optimal" habits, just consistent ones. Try to get the same amount of sleep each night while going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time.

#2 Daily Purposeful Movement

Sporadic physical activity can be much harder on the body compared to doing a little something each day. Doing a daily Micro Workout or just getting some casual recreation can do wonders to keep your body feeling loose and in the flow.

Also, don't make stress and fatigue the sole purpose of your workouts. Yes, you want to work hard, but few things beat you up and drain your energy, like working out for the sake of exhausting yourself. Instead, have a clear objective of what you want to accomplish in your workouts so you know how much work to put into your training without overdoing it.

#3 A Supportive Diet

The healthier your diet is, the more energy you will have. That's why eating to satisfy your four fundamental appetites does wonders for your energy level.

That's why an increase in energy is one of the best signs you're improving your diet and nutritional support. Unfortunately, many of our fitness culture's messages tell you to "eat right" via dietary restriction. Eating less or less of certain foods can be helpful, but being too restrictive can often backfire.

So pay attention to how your diet habits are influencing your energy level. It may be time to reassess your intake if you often feel slow and sluggish.

#4 Consuming Supportive Media

Your information and media diet can also greatly influence your mental and emotional health and, therefore, your energy level. Negative messages that make you feel anxious and angry will only drain you of your energy level, sometimes for hours after consuming media.

While media has become more prevalent and persuasive, it's also easier than ever to curate what you're exposing yourself to. It takes some effort, but you can tell the algorithms what you want and don't want to see depending on what you give clicks, likes, and watch time. Sometimes, you can tell a social media feed you don't want to consume a certain post.

The more proactive you are about what sort of media you consume, the more you can positively influence your mental and emotional energy level, which will give you more physical energy.

You don't have to resolve to struggle with a low energy level in life. You don't get extra points by making things harder on yourself with poor sleep, diet, lack of exercise, and negative media consumption. So make things easier on yourself, you only stand to gain from it.

Red Delta Project

I'm Matt Schifferle and I love fitness, but I've long struggled to make diet and exercise work for me.

Thankfully, I've learned two life-changing lessons that have made staying in shape a lot easier, more fun, and much more rewarding.

I currently live in Denver, Colorado, where I enjoy sipping on an IPA after a mountain bike ride or a day of skiing up at Winter Park.
